LOCAL INITIATIVES

“Supporting Innovative Efforts at the Community Level”

The Canadian Cooperation Office manages a local initiative and a facility: the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) and the Local Development Facility (LDF). The initiative and Facility support activities designed to enhance the capacity of local organizations and institutions to plan, implement, and monitor projects identified as priorities by communities.

These local initiatives provide opportunities for creative and collaborative efforts at the community level and aim to promote innovation, expand governance capacities in Nepal, and develop leadership and ownership.
The support provided under these initiatives aim to:
reduce poverty at the community level by improving access to basic health, education, skills training, micro-credit, and infrastructure facilities,
reduce social and gender inequalities, and
empower communities.
